El objetivo primario de la ropa es cubrirnos y protegernos del clima. Y después, sirve para un sinnúmero de cosas, entre esas divertirnos.

Mientras mi generación crecía, aprendíamos pautas de moda de parte de las mamás y tías que con autoridad nos imponían que el bolso, los zapatos y el cinturón debían ser del mismo color; que el blanco sólo se llevaba en clima caliente al igual que los zapatos abiertos; Que un atuendo no debía tener más de tres colores; entre otras reglas limitantes de estilo muy populares en los 80’s.

Afortunadamente la moda actual nos permite mezclar colores y texturas a nuestro antojo, accesorios de diferentes estilos, marcas de lujo con prendas low cost y prendas deportivas con tacones delicados. Este outfit es una muestra de cómo muchas prendas pueden verse bien juntas sin caer en el disfraz: un pantalón negro y una camiseta blanca como prendas base; unos zapatos rojos que no combinan con el bolso, pero sí con el estampado de la camiseta; unos aretes que contienen todos los tonos; y una chaqueta mostaza que a simple vista no está acorde con nada pero que aporta vibra a todo el conjunto.

Ya no se trata de seguir pautas restrictivas al vestir, se trata de resaltar el estilo personal de cada uno y mostrarlo a través de lo que vestimos cada día. Sin miedo, pero con equilibrio.

Hello everyone.

The clothes was created originally for covering and protect us from the weather. After of that, we can use the clothes for several purposes, among them have fun.

While my generation was growing up, we learned rules of fashion from our Moms and aunts who authoritatively imposed us that bag, shoes and belt should be of the same color; that white clothes and sandals were only permit in hot weather; That all outfits should not have more than three colors; among other limiting rules of style, very popular in the 80’s.

Fortunately, the current fashion allows us to mix colors and textures, accessories in different styles, luxury clothing with low cost brands, and sportswear with delicate heels. This outfit is a sample of how many garments can be well together without falling into the costume: a black pants and a white t-shirt as the basics pieces; red shoes that do not combine with the bag, but with the pattern of the shirt; earrings that contain all tones; and a yellow mustard jacket that brings a vibrant touch to the outfit.

It is no longer follow restrictive guidelines; we can highlighting the personal style of each one and show it through what we wear every day. Without fear, but with balance.

La gran mayoría de nosotros – sin importar que amemos nuestro empleo o no – sentimos angustia el domingo por la tarde, pensando que se acabó el fin de semana y llega el odiado lunes. Desestimamos todos los mensajes en redes que nos dicen que es una nueva oportunidad de retomar el camino a nuestros sueños. No queremos leer eso, queremos dormir más y no madrugar a trabajar.

Pero no debería ser así, porque perdemos toda una tarde estresados por el día siguiente y toda la mañana quejándonos por la inevitable llegada del lunes. Por eso y aprovechando el día que es, les quiero compartir los pequeños rituales que llevo a cabo desde el domingo para que el lunes sea un día productivo y además feliz:

Aprovecha el domingo: podemos dormir hasta tarde si queremos y podemos, pero hay que salir de la cama, darle cariñitos a la casa, desayunar con calma y hacer algún plan entretenido pero que no nos deje cansados.

Consiéntete: Es el mejor día para ir al salón de belleza y ponernos lindos para el inicio de la semana. Haz tu cita y tomate un espacio para ti. Lo más seguro es que el resto de la semana no te dé tiempo.

Organízate: Deja lista desde el domingo la ropa que vas a usar y la comida que vas a llevar. Y la maleta del gimnasio. Si, lo sé, no habías pensado en ir al gimnasio o a trotar el lunes, pero si dejas todo listo te obligas a ir y sales más temprano. Así irás con mucha energía y con cara feliz a trabajar mientras todos van tarde atascados en el tráfico.

Duerme temprano: Todas las buenas películas las transmiten tarde el domingo y son una gran tentación, en la que sugiero no caer. Es mejor dormir temprano para descansar lo suficiente y salir de la cama lúcidos y despiertos a trabajar o a estudiar.

Arréglate un poco más: Mientras los demás visten algo negro que tomaron a última hora porque era tarde, tu lunes se sentirá diferente si te vistes con colores alegres y vibrantes. Es impresionante como la ropa puede dominar nuestro estado de ánimo.

Prioriza: El lunes trae consigo una gran carga de cosas por hacer. Dale prioridad a las tareas más importantes y podrás mantenerte en control.

Sal después del trabajo: Una buena forma de hacer menos tedioso este día y convertirlo en un favorito de la semana, es salir de la oficina y encontrarte con amigos o con tu pareja para un café o un coctel. ¿Por qué esperar al viernes?

The majority of us – no matter that we love our job or not – feel anguish on Sunday afternoon, thinking that the weekend is over and the next day will be the hated Monday. We dismiss all messages in social networks that tell us that it is a new opportunity to fight for our dreams. We do not want to read that, we want to sleep more and not get up early to work.

However, it should not be so, because we lose a whole afternoon stressed for the next day and all morning complaining by the inevitable arrival of Monday.

For this reason and taking advantage of the day that is, want to share the small rituals that I make from Sunday to make Monday a productive and happy day:

Take advantage of Sunday: You can sleep late if we want to and we can, but you have to get out of bed, breakfast calmly and do some entertaining plan but relaxing.

Pamper yourself: is the best day to go to the beauty salon and get pretty for the start of the week. Get your appointment and take some space for you. The rest of the week could be impossible.

Get organized: Organize from Sunday he clothes and the food for next day. And the suitcase of the gym. Yes, I know, you do not ever thought about going to the gym or jogging on Monday, but if you leave everything ready force you to go and to get up early. Thus, you will go with lots of energy and happy face to work while everyone will be late stuck in traffic.

Sleep early: all good films broadcast them late Sunday and are a great temptation, which I suggest to not fall. It is better to sleep early to rest enough and wake up lucid to work or to study.

Upgrade your outfit: while others wear something black taken at the last minute because they were late, your Monday will feel different if you wear bright and vibrant colors. It is impressive how clothes can dominate our state of mind.

Priority: Monday brings a great load of things to do. Give priority to major tasks and you can stay in control.

Drinks after work: A good way to make this special day less tedious and turn it into a good one, is out of the office and meet with friends for a coffee or a cocktail. ¿Why wait to Friday?

Hola a todos.Casi siete meses después, puedo compartir con ustedes algunas fotos del downtown de Miami, tomadas durante el viaje con mi novio y su familia en octubre del año pasado.

Fue una mañana calurosa dando vueltas en el centro de la ciudad y viéndola desde arriba en el Metromover, donde yo con la mayor actitud de turista posible le tomaba fotos a todo y todo me parecía wow. Empezando por este medio de transporte elevado, limpio, rápido y gratuito para moverse por el centro.

Siempre que viajo fuera de mi país y conozco algo que podría – y debería – aplicarse en nuestras ciudades, me pregunto ¿por qué si nuestros gobernantes se han formado internacionalmente y viajan por todo el mundo, no pueden replicar estas ideas geniales aquí? Al tráfico caótico de Bogotá – sobre todo en el centro – y a muchas ciudades de Colombia este sistema les serviría mucho. Es un enigma para mí, pero no pierdo la esperanza que algún día suceda.

Les dejo estas imágenes que tomé con mi cámara de aficionada, para trasmitirles lo linda y vibrante que es, y las ganas de volver que me dejó.

Hello everyone.Almost seven months later, I share with you some photos of the downtown of Miami, taken during the trip with my boyfriend and his family in October 2018.

It was a hot morning walking in the city and seeing it from above in the Metromover, where I had the greatest possible tourist attitude, taking pictures of everything, and everything seemed to me wow. Starting with this high, clean, fast and free transportation to get around the center.

Whenever I travel out of my country and I know something cool that could – and should be – applied in our cities, I wonder ¿why if our governants have been study in other countries and travel all over the world, they cannot replicate these great ideas here? To the chaotic traffic of Bogotá – especially in the downtown – and many cities of Colombia this system would serve a lot. It is an enigma to me, but I do not lose hope that one day it happens.

I hope you enjoy these pictures taken with my amateur camera, to show you how beautiful and vibrant is this city. Thank you for reading, and I hope you can travel frequently – no matter close or far – to learn about other lifestyles and to take the best for your own.

A veces sucede que las tendencias que vemos en todas partes no parecen ser aptas para nosotros, por nuestra personalidad, por la forma de nuestro cuerpo o nuestro estilo de vida. No toda la moda es para todos, y no es conveniente comprar todo lo que nos parece estiloso en las pasarelas, en las modelos o en la calle.

Había estado viendo el blazer masculino inundando revistas y blogs de moda, pero no me atrevía con ellos, porque pensaba que quedaría atrapada en los años 70’s o que mi cuerpo perdería forma; además que no estaba segura si combinaría con el resto de mi closet.

El blazer es una pieza clave en cada armario que siendo originalmente masculino, está viviendo un segundo aire y se ha reinventado en el outfit femenino. Mantiene su estilo vintage pero se moderniza cuando se combina con las piezas actuales. Y como el negro no es la única opción, me decidí por este con cuadros en tonos neutros que combina con todo.

En nuestro primer acercamiento, lo acompañé con básicos para ir entrando en confianza: una camiseta blanca, un Jean negro y unos zapatos que aportarán diseño siguiendo el patrón de cuadros del blazer. Sin embargo, estuve revisando mi closet y noté que puedo usarlo con mucha de mi ropa.

De eso se trata, de no comprar por impulso o por tener el «último grito de la moda» y no volverlo a usar jamás, sino que las prendas puedan combinarse entre sí para lograr las mayores opciones posibles.

Hello everyone.

Sometimes it happens that the trends that we see everywhere do not seem to be for us, for our personality, for the shape of our body and our way of life. All fashion is not for everyone and it is not convenient to buy what we like on the catwalks, on the models or on the street.

I had been watching the men’s blazers in magazines and fashion blogs, but I did not dare to use them. I thought I would be caught in the 70’s or that my body would lose the shape, also I did not know how to match with the rest of my closet.

The blazer is a basic piece in every closet, which is of male origin lives a second air and has been reborn. It keeps vintage, but it becomes modern when combined with the current garments. And as Black is not the only option I let myself be tempted by this one that combines with everything.

In our first approach, I wore it with basics to go into confidence: white T-shirt, black Jean and beautiful shoes. However, I have been checking my closet and I know I can use it with a lot of my clothes. That is the important, not buying by impulse or having «the last trend of fashion» and never use it again, then, each garment combines with the rest so that we always have many options.

Aunque no le prestemos mucha atención, la forma en que nos vestimos envía un mensaje de quiénes somos, qué queremos proyectar y cómo nos sentimos. Algunas veces seguimos las reglas de “menos es más” y optamos por looks sencillos y monocromáticos, y otras veces queremos resaltar entre la multitud con una explosión de color.

En la moda cualquier camino que escojas es válido para comunicar tu personalidad, siempre y cuando te sientas cómodo con él y no caigas en los excesos. Como dicen en mi tierra: “ni mucho que queme al santo, ni tan poco que no lo alumbre”. Es decir, ni demasiado simple que termine siendo aburrido, ni al extremo que parezcas escapado del carnaval de Barranquilla.

Y hablando del caribe, en este look quise aprovechar mis raíces caribeñas para lucir prendas con hermosos pájaros en colores vibrantes, combinadas con otras en tonos neutros para mantener el balance. A veces me gusta tomar riesgos y empiezo poco a poco para ver cómo me siento; eso sí, siempre pongo las prendas en una superficie para revisar cómo va saliendo el outfit y hacer cambios a tiempo.

STYLING TIP: Al combinar estampados, cuida las proporciones y trata de que compartan – al menos – un mismo tono para que haya uniformidad. En éste caso, el rojo y negro de los pájaras en ambas prendas cohesiona el beige de la falda y el azul de la chaqueta, haciendo que todo el atuendo se complemente entre sí.

Even if we do not pay much attention to our clothes, the way in which we dress sends a message of who we are, what we want to project and how we feel. Sometimes we follow the rules of «less is more» and opted for simple and monochromatic looks, and sometimes we want to highlight into the crowd with an explosion of color.

In fashion any way you choose to communicate your personality will be correct, if you feel comfortable with it and do not fall into excesses: neither too simple to being boring, and not to the extreme that you look like living in the Barranquilla Carnival.

And speaking of the Caribbean, in this look I wanted to take advantage of my Caribbean roots to wear clothing with beautiful birds in vibrant colors, combined with others in neutral shades to keep the balance. Sometimes I like to take risks and I start slowly to see how I feel; and I always put the clothes on a surface to check how is the outfit is being created and make changes in time.

STYLING TIP: To mix prints, take care of the proportions and try that share – at least – a same tone to ensure uniformity. In this case, the red and black of the birds in both garments merges with beige skirt and blue jacket, making all the outfit works.

Los vestidos camiseros y kimonos han llegado para quedarse, al menos en mi closet, donde conviven ya varios de diferentes estilos. Considero que son una opción muy práctica para este cambiante clima de Bogotá, donde si te abrigas mucho puedes asarte cuando sube la temperatura, o si crees que estamos en verano, puede atacarte una hipotermia cuando llegue el frío; porque como les he contado en esta ciudad no tenemos estaciones definidas, pero podemos sentir climas variados y extremos durante un solo día.

Me encanta su estética que alarga la figura, su fluidez y las diferentes formas en las que pueden llevarse. A veces como un vestido cerrado, como una salida de baño en la playa, o como en estas fotos, como una camisa larga abierta que sirve de abrigo. Y si el calor apremia puede doblarse y guardarse en el bolso sin tanto volumen.

Apenas para este viernes de brisa y sol por momentos, con una camiseta, jean y tennis para atender cómoda las diligencias del día.

Hello everyone.

Shirt dresses and kimonos came to stay, at least in my closet, where they live in several different styles. I think they are a very practical option for this changing climate of Bogotá, where if you use a lot of clothes in order to stay warm, you could broil yourself when the temperature rises; or if you believe that we are in the summer, you could be attacked by a hypothermia when cold; because as I told you, in this city we do not have well defined seasons, but we can feel different climates during a single day.

I love their esthetic that lengthening the figure, its fluidity and the different ways in which can be wear. Sometimes as a closed dress, as a dress ir cardigan on the beach, or as in these pictures, as a long open coat. And if I want to, I can be folded it and store it in my bag without much volume.

Perfect for this breeze day, with a t-shirt, jean and tennis to attend comfortable all the thing that I have to do today.

Esta semana es una de esas extrañas en el calendario con un día festivo el miércoles a mitad de camino, por la jornada del día internacional del trabajo que conmemora la lucha por conseguir la jornada laboral de ocho horas. Un día que ha ido perdiendo su carácter reivindicativo para convertirse en un día festivo sin más, con marchas y amotinamientos en algunas ciudades.

La fecha se fijó en 1889, con la idea de rendir tributo a los Mártires de Chicago, un grupo de sindicalistas que fueron condenados por su participación en una huelga que se inició el 1 de mayo de 1886 en todo el país y, que se prolongó hasta el 4 de mayo. Sin embargo, en Estados Unidos y Canadá la fecha se trasladó al primer lunes de septiembre por miedo a que el movimiento socialista se reforzase y pasó a llamarse Labor Day.

Asi que en honor a las libertades y derechos que otros lucharon por nosotros, hoy me acompaña una bandada de pájaros en mi vestido camisero, que he acompañado con un jean debajo para guardarme del frío.

Aprovecharemos el día mañana para descansar y estar en familia, hacer una barbacoa o salir de paseo a un pueblo cercano, esperando que sea un día soleado para no quedarnos bajo las cobijas en casa.

Hello everyone.

This week is one of those strange ones with a holiday on Wednesday half way, by the day of international labor day that commemorates the struggle to get the eight-hour working day. This day has been losing its claim to become a simple holiday.

The date was set at 1889, with the idea of paying tribute to the martyrs of Chicago, a group of unionists who were condemned for their participation in a strike that began on May 1st, 1886 nationwide and, which lasted until May 4th. However, in the United States and Canada the date was moved to the first Monday in September for fear that the socialist movement would be reinforced, and it was called Labor Day.

In honor of the freedoms and rights that others fought for us, today I am wearing a flock of birds in my shirt dress, which I accompanied with a jean underneath of it, in order to keep me warm.

We will take the day to rest and be with family, make a barbecue or go for a walk to a nearby town, hoping it will be a sunny day.

Hoy es un día feliz en Bogotá porque no ha llovido y hemos podido ver las nubes y el cielo después de muchos días nublados. De hecho en esta ciudad, es un buen día cuando podemos ver los cerros, y hoy hemos tenido ese privilegio.

Yo pensaba que iba a ser un día nublado y triste, por lo que quise contrarrestarlo con color, y con esta camiseta que con humor argumenta que el negro es una especie de color feliz.

Esta es una buena noticia para una amiga que quiero mucho que viste de negro todos los días y a quien a veces la hacen sentir como una persona lúgubre; cuando en realidad es muy divertida, sólo que compra mucha ropa negra y para ella, éste es su color feliz.

Today is a happy day in Bogotá because it has not rained and we have been able to see the clouds and the sky after many cloudy days. In fact, in this city, it is a good day when we can see the hills, and today we have had that privilege.

Volvimos luego de unos días de descanso, oración y lluvias en casi todo el país. Normalmente deberíamos estar renovados y enérgicos, pero sé que muchos como yo, ansiaban que hoy también fuera festivo, porque dormir es muy rico y más con estos fríos que estamos viviendo en Bogotá.

Nos fuimos a buscar calor y encontramos poco, porque en estas fechas en mi país llueve todos los días y en todo el territorio. Sin embargo cambiar de ambiente siempre alimenta el alma, y la panza, porque festividad que se respete viene acompañada de grandes cantidades de deliciosa comida.

Yo tuve poca señal de celular y mucho sueño que logré reponer en cada oportunidad. El sol se asomó un solo día e hice la tarea de llenarme de aceite y ponerme a dorar como carne a la brasa. Pero fué inútil porque el bronceado me huye y sigo con el mismo tono de lámpara de halógeno que me caracteriza.

Pero hay que sonreír, salir a disfrutar el paisaje y tomar fotos, para dejarles uno de mis atuendos calentanos que destaca mi tono angora caribeño. Esperando que hayan descansado estos días y que hayan adquirido un poco de color.

Hello everyone

We returned after a few days of rest, prayer and rain. Normally we should be renewed and energetic, but I know that many of you, as me, wanted that today also should be holiday, because sleeping is a pleasure with the cold weather we are living in Bogotá.

We went to look for heat and found little, because at this time in my country it rains every day and throughout the territory. However, changing the environment always feeds the soul, and the tummy, because all kind of festivity is accompanied by large amounts of delicious food.

I had little cell signal and a lot of sleep. The sun peeked out for a single day and I did the task of filling myself with oil and putting myself like grilled meat. But it was useless because the tan flees me and I still have the same tone of halogen lamp that characterizes me.

But, we have to smile, go out to enjoy the nature and take pictures, to leave you one of my warm attire that highlights my Caribbean angora tone. Hoping that you have rested these days and have acquired a little color.

A veces parece que pasamos cada año esperando las vacaciones, cada semana esperando el viernes y cada mes esperando el día
de pago. Vivimos esperando.

En Colombia esto es muy natural, contamos los días que faltan para los festivos y cuando un mes no trae ninguno se nos hace
eterno. Pero no es porque odiemos trabajar y alimentemos fama de perezosos; en realidad trabajamos muy duro cada día y luego disfrutamos por la labor cumplida. Eso sí, trabajamos, descansamos y celebramos con la misma intensidad.

Y esta semana, es Semana Santa. Una gloriosa semana de vacaciones para algunos o cuatro días festivos para otros. Para viajar en busca de playa y sol, salir a conocer un pueblo cercano, o quedarnos en casa y organizar un asado con la familia.

Esta semana se enloquecen las carreteras y aeropuertos llenos de turistas buscando una aventura y la ciudad queda sola para
quienes se quedan, lo que también es una magia sentir menos congestión de tráfico y de personas.

Tanto a los que viajan como a los que se quedan, les aconsejo que aprovechen los días para conocer y conocerse, para comer
rico, para compartir con quienes estén, para conversar y olvidar el celular… en fin, para desconectarse y reconectarse con lo importante: Ustedes y quienes aman.

Les deseo un feliz descanso y nos veremos la próxima semana.

Hello everyone.

Sometimes it seems that we spend every year waiting for the holidays, each week waiting for Friday and each month waiting for payday. We live waiting for something.

In Colombia this is very natural, we count the days missing for the holidays and when a month does not bring any, feel as an eternity. But it is not because we hate working, actually we work hard every day and then enjoyed by the accomplished work. In fact, we work, rest and celebrate with the same intensity.

And this week, it is Holy week. A glorious week of vacation for some or four days off for others. To travel in search of beach and Sun, or to know a nearby village, or staying at home and make a barbecue with the family.

This week the roads and airports will be filled with tourists looking for an adventure and the city left lonely for those who stay in it. But is magic to feel the less congestion of traffic and people.

Both, to those who travel and those who stay, I advise you to seize the days to meet and know each other, to share with those who are, to talk and forget the cell phone… Finally, to disconnect and reconnect with the important thing: you and those who love.
