Muchas personas me preguntan por qué uso pañoletas en la cabeza si no estoy pintando mi apartamento o mudándome de casa, como hemos visto que las usan las chicas en películas norteamericanas.

En mi cultura (soy de la costa caribe colombiana) las mujeres acostumbraban a llevar pañoletas en colores vivos sobre el cabello para protegerlo del sol y del viento.

En mi familia, mi abuela materna siempre llevaba una combinándola con su ropa. De hecho, al momento de su fallecimiento heredé un par de ellas que conservo como un adorado tesoro.

Mi mamá y mis tías continuaron esa tradición, y a mí me encantan  y las llevo cuando viajo,  estoy en clima cálido, o incluso cuando mi cabello está en extrema rebeldía.  

Las considero un accesorio imprescindible que me acerca a mis raíces y a mi tierra, y aunque no tenga este mismo significado para ustedes, las invito a que las incluyan en su closet para proteger su cabello de las inclemencias del clima o simplemente para verse más bonitas.

Many people ask me why use Bandanas in the head if I am not painting my apartment or moving, as we have seen that the girls use them on American movies.

In my culture (I’m from the Colombian Caribbean coast) women were accustomed to use bandanas in bright colors in order to protect their hair from the Sun and wind.

In my family, my maternal grandmother always wore one combined with her clothes. In fact, at the time of her death, I inherited a couple of them that I keep as a beloved treasure.

My mom and my aunts continued that tradition, and I love them, using them when I travel, I’m in hot weather, or even when my hair is in extreme rebellion.

I consider them a must-have accessory to me that keep me closer to my roots and my child land, and although it does not have the same meaning for you, include them in your closet to protect your hair from the harshness of the climate, or simply to see more beautiful.
